Know Your Rights
If your laser printer/copier service person says, "I'll have to void your warranty if you don't use an original toner/OEM cartridge" or "You'll be charged for this service call since you're not using our cartridge," don't be intimidated. It is illegal for your laser printer/copier manufacturer to require you to use or purchase a particular brand of cartridge, just as it is illegal for your car dealer to require only original parts be used to fix your car. An Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) cannot void your warranty simply because you exercise your right to choose your preferred brand of supplies.
